4 Pillars of Strength

Born into the family of warriors from Udaipur, I belong to the Chauhan Dynasty. My great grandfather Mehta Laxmilal was the Commander-in-Chief of Mewar Army and my father Commander Pratap Singh Mehta, is a veteran of the Indian navy, who fought the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The warrior spirit of my royal lineage has made me an achiever with a do or die attitude. Although my birthplace has been Mumbai, I have been raised across India. My father, a soldier-sailor, served multiple postings in the Navy. Interestingly, because of his postings, we changed homes umpteen times. That’s the reason, both…

A TV Host – It’s About You and Not Me

“Lights, Camera, Action!” - The cameras went rolling, so did I without really knowing the crux of it all; my first TV audition for Zee TV with Govinda’s nephew. Working for radio meant speaking comfortably out of a script in my hand with nobody to see me. A sudden move to TV exposed me to glaring lights and cameras along with an unseen audience watching me intently. Ah, how I made a conscious effort to look into the camera, turn away from it naturally and talk without fumbles, most importantly without any sheets to read from! Deep down I was…

Motherhood – Are you Top Priority?

It’s the weekend, 8 in the morning and my daughter has kick-started her day running around, cajoling me into fulfilling her demands, and vying for my undivided attention. A kiss, a hug and I give her, her favourite breakfast, ‘Aloo Poha’ and orange juice and finally, lock myself in the study to get back to my writing. I leave her in the security of a good book. Being a mom you have so much on your platter every day, so many responsibilities to juggle with and so much of expectations to keep up to! Perhaps, that has made the tag…

Let’s Blaze, Honey – The Beginning of Fitness

Juhu Versova is my haven with a lot of lovely spaces for me to take a brisk and blissful walk. Being a fitness enthusiast I try not to miss those little adventures and, of course, my gym routine. Feeling energized every single day it has given me a fit body and a fit mind. But I didn’t develop a fitness regime overnight. It took me a lot of persistence. For good health, you got to be like that dark horse, which runs consistently until the end to win the race, no matter what. Play to win is my secret code.…

Setting the Stage Ablaze

It was mid-summer, and I was getting ready for a live event. The crowd was supposed to be a grand one with dignitaries coming from various fields. I was a bit iffy. Our entire team had worked hard on the client’s briefs. We prepared an interesting script with dialogues, which I was to present along with my co-host.     All set, I waited backstage for my co-host 30 minutes before the show was to begin. Soon one of our team members informed my co-host had met with a small accident. He’d fractured his ankle. I instantly reacted, “Oh! Now,…

A New Horizon

Irresistible Blueberry Muffin with Butterscotch, are you game? Do you like people-watching? I do ;). In fact, the other day I was sipping my favourite black coffee at the J W Marriott. Although it was quite crowded, I couldn’t help noticing a pretty lady with a baby by her side biting into a blueberry muffin. But I’m sure she passed unnoticed most of the time. Guess why? Simple - an unflattering dressing style, tired facial expressions, and a not-so-confident body language. She reminded me of myself a few years back – being a new mother with a whole set of…
